The Great Pyramid at Giza is the only ancient wonder still standing. It was built with over two million blocks of stone. Each stone weighed around 2,500 pounds, about the same weight as a car! For thousands of years, it was the tallest building in the world.

The Great Pyramid was built around 2,500 BCE (about 4,500 years ago!) It is nearly 800 feet long and 450 feet high. The Great Pyramid is truly enormous. Yet, it only has 3 known chambers. Most of the inside is a maze of wandering hallways.

In ancient times, this pyramid was the center of a complex that included other small pyramids, a temple, a place for 5 boats, and a causeway or walkway between structures. Today, there are 3 pyramids left on the Giza plateau. The Great Pyramid is the oldest and largest of the 3.

The Great Pyramid was built before the rest of the ancient wonders selected by the Greeks. It is the only ancient wonder that is still around today.
